Everyone deserves the chance to build a family

Key takeaway's from Emma the Embryologist's time at The Fertility Show Live and why Fertility Action matters.

Everyone deserves the chance to build a family

Look in the mirror and repeat the following. "I am not broken. I am incredible." Without sounding all woo woo, these are important words from an exciting and important movement.

A while back I connected with Katie Rollings, the founder and CEO of Fertility Action. It was clear we were destined to do amazing things together!

Fertility Action's vision is clear: A future where every person has the power, support and knowledge to confidently choose their fertility path. The Mission: Fertility Action is dedicated to supporting those navigating the financial and emotional challenges of their fertility journey. We work alongside individuals, communities, healthcare providers, and corporate partners to enhance fertility education, improve access to care, and advocate for policies that ensure equitable, inclusive family-building opportunities for all.

Katie's story is fascinating. She really is a wonderful human doing wonderful things. She's brought together a brilliant team of trustees and I'm so proud to be the Chair of Trustees.

During the weekend, 17 & 18th May 2025, we had a stand at The Fertility Show LIVE, at Olympia London.

The weekend was bonkers, exciting and concerning. I learnt many new things and witnessed some things that made me feel uneasy.

I also received a huge amount of thanks for the honesty on my Instagram and emmatheembryologist.com. Thank you to everyone who came to say hi and for sharing your appreciation. It meant a lot! 😍

Here are my key takeaways:

  1. Struggling with infertility is scary
  2. You feel so alone
  3. There are so many unknowns
  4. You have no idea what to do or where to go
  5. Who is telling the truth? Who can you trust?
  6. Who is spinning you a money making line?
  7. How is anyone meant to navigate this safely?
  8. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is
  9. Qualifications do not necessarily make you ‘right’ or trustworthy
  10. Someone’s individual experience and opinion does not make yours less valid or important
  11. ‘It's just the way things are done’ needs to be challenged
  12. New ideas and voices need to be heard without being belittled.

As part of this new charity, I realise that it is our role within Fertility Action to raise awareness around all of this. And make you safe.

There are some really good people in this world, and the need to list them from the weekend is massive, so here goes – I’m sorry if I have missed people. I encourage you to follow them.
